Haha.. the rjc summit was fun afterall.. although my speech wasn't long (shorter that NUS High's and NJC's) it was longer that RJC's.. haha.. presidents of all gavel clubs present were presented with a toastmaster's badge.. haha.. so honoured.. presented by the district governor somemore.. the badge so nice.. bright and shiny.. haha.. but oh well, WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY.. alot was expected from us.. to keep in contact with other gavel clubs and holding events together and stuff like that.. but the experience was really a great one.. i guess, since we were the first gavel club to be formed in Singapore, we were very much respected.. that's why our opinion was often asked.. just that, irritating NUS High has decided to do a inter-Gavel Club Oratorical competition.. after hearing that TPJC does an inter-JC/CI and inter-secondary school oratorical competition.. such an idea steal-er.. the 9 TPJCians who were there were so angry la.. especially when they invited RJC to carry out the competition with them.. so irritating.. then all the TPJCians went to the toilet and started cursing them.. haha.. but luckily, we made some good friends with NJC Gavel Club members and they stood up for us la.. haha.. cos NUS High was thick-skinned enough to ask them to help as well.. so NJC said in front of everyone (including the toastmasters)' " why not ask TPJC instead? afterall, they have been holding it for so many years.. they are in a better position to help.." we just felt so proud at that moment la.. haha.. so I guess, I've got to thank the people from NJC for making the summit so pleasant for us.. especially Martin Guo (president) and Adrian Lim (VPPR).. they even contacted me via email right after the summit to invite us to their school.. haha.. such affable people..
anyway, the JC1 inter-CG oratorical competition is tmr and i'm gonna be really busy.. haha.. but it'll be fun.. i borrowed the "world championship of public speaking 2003" from Michael Wee( a toastmaster) and i guess, i'll be showing it during the break tmr.. it's just so nice to see.. the way these experienced speakers speak.. using such good body language, gestures and vocal variety.. there's just so much to learn from them.. *thumbs up*..
